It's all about a massive geomagnetic storm heading towards our planet, according to the US weather agency NOAA.

At least five so-called coronal mass ejections, when large amounts of particles are ejected with the solar wind due to large explosions on the sun's surface, are expected to arrive on Friday and continue to affect right through to Sunday. It is categorized as a G4 on the weather institute's five-point scale
According to NOAA, the forecast right now is that the best chance to see the spectacle is in northern Europe and the United States and Canada.

The Facebook page "Norrsken", Sweden's largest northern lights community with 176,000 followers, are very hopeful.
